I am about to start a project, using original mastered tracks (CD imports) with new music (MIDI) underneath, to be re-scored to go out to live players to play alongside. I haven't used Logic in around 10 years (Logic 8?) and switched to Live, and have done all my MIDI in Live, as well as its warping etc. For this project, I need to hand over Logic sessions, so I now have Logic Pro X 10.4, and Ableton Live 9.7.5 (Mac)(which I will be doing most of the mixing tracks, midi, mashups and re-edits in) The guys who use Logic, for timecode and sync with other visuals, click tracks, said that Ableton wasn't as solid, as Logic, which i found hard to believe? So I am thinking of the best way to still do my work in Ableton, then dump the audio, then MIDI to Logic as a Logic session (still working out how to save a logic session with everything included) So: 1. Whats the best way to approach this? Just do the project in Ableton, then render the audio mixing tracks as audio (say 10 minutes) then render the MIDI out from LIVE, to Logic so that Logic plays the MIDI? Are there any settings when rendering out of Ableton so it locks in place in a logic session for better compatibility that i haven't thought of?
If I do Tempo changes in Ableton, can I export these so they are read and appear in Logic? Any help between the two would be good, as I am much faster in Ableton, getting ideas, mixes, re-edits and mashups down, then spending an hour or so, getting that into Logic so it can be read as a session, would be my ideal scenario. Thank you for any help J. Usually the best way is to just export the audio of each track from beginning to end. Best export settings are 24 bit wav or aiff (at whatever sample rate your recorded audio is. If you didn't record any audio just use your project default working sample rate). I don't know if there is an easy way to convert tempo tracks.
I've heard of a program called DAW Convert or something that can convert projects from One DAW to another. That is probably your best bet if you want to convert over more than audio tracks.
