I have an HP Pavilion dv6841eo, and unfortunately I cannot get the sound to work, either. It's a Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221, and the latest driver that Windows installed is 4.36.7.60. I tried installing the driver from the HP website, but that didn't work, either. John W MSFT. I downloaded the most up to date drivers for realtek but it still didn't work. I removed windows 10 and went back to Windows 7. Everything worked fine so I reloaded windows 10 the other day. It worked so will see how things go. I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 with Windows 8.1, but after update to Windows 10, no more sound from the speakers. I removed windows 10 and went back to Windows 7 After several drivers update and other attempts to fix the problem, i removed windows 10 and wen back to windows 8.1 waiting microsoft fix this issue.
I noticed that error in the driver events as well, except I have RealTek integrated audio. Since upgrading to Windows 10, it's kaput. The device manager says everything is fine, as far as Windows is concerned everything is fine, except there's non on the sound. I noted that there is a slight hiss and buzz when plugging in headphones/speakers - which would kind of indicate a grounding or hardware problem, except that seems very unlikely as everything was working on Win7 perfectly. Things I have tried: Checking front and rear audio jacks Check with speakers and headphones Updating the drivers Uninstalling then reinstalling the audio drivers Downloading the driver from RealTek and manually installing Flashing the BIOS Using the default MS Driver Changing the sampling rate in the audio settings Nothing works and the issue persists.

It's a real pity too - I really like Windows 10 so far, but this is a pretty fundamental problem right now and I might be forced to the dark side - buying an Apple and turning into a Mac Fanboy. Please Microsoft, save me! EDIT: For those pulling their hair out over this issue - I found a workaround. If you have a PC with a separate Graphics Card, probably something relatively recent (I have a AMD Radeon R9 270) AND a monitor with a HDMI input AND the same monitor has an 3.5 audio jack output - you can connect the monitor via HDMI from the Graphics card (rather than the motherboard) - then speakers to the monitor. I have just done so, and it works. Yes, it's a rather silly workaround, but it gives me sound until such a time that W10 is doing it proper. Looking for answers on the internets.
