I had the same thing on my MP. I use the standard Apple Nvidia drivers for my GTX 780 card. Updated to 10.12.2 and up pops I need a CUDA update. What was weird to me was I had never had a pop up like that. I usually had to check manually.

Anyway I clicked update and I still have the CUDA preference box telling me I need to update. My current version is 8.0.53. I saw the update page on Nvidia and decided waiting would be good.
